About Me
Dr. Edward Eden was educated in London, England. He attended St. Mary’s Hospital Medical School and graduated in 1975. He continued his training in the United States with medical residencies at Wayne State and SUNY programs. He underwent further training in pulmonary disease at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York and research at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, NY. He joined the staff of St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital in 1985 and was appointed as Director of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine in 2003, a position he still holds.
He is Professor of Medicine and Clinical Director of the James P. Mara Center for lung disease, a "Center of Excellence" for alpha-1 antitrypsin and COPD. His other interests include asthma, pulmonary sarcoidosis and pulmonary hypertension. He is also director of the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program and Pulmonary function laboratories at both St. Luke’s and West. He has participated in a number of clinical treatment trials in asthma, COPD (including alpha-1), bronchiectasis and pulmonary hypertension.
Dr. Eden has a strong interest in teaching. He was director of the training program for Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s and Mount Sinai West (formerly Roosevelt) for over 20 years. He also teaches third-year medical students from The Mount Sinai Hospital in NY.
