About Me

Born and raised in New York City, Dr. Niall Monaghan completed all of his medical training in his home town. After going out west and graduating from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a BA in Japanese, he returned to New York City to complete a post-baccalaureate in pre-medicine at Columbia University. He graduated from the State University of New York, Downstate Medical College located in Brooklyn. Following an Internal Medicine internship at Lenox Hill Hospital, he completed a residency at New York Presbyterian Cornell/Columbia in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation where he served as chief resident. He then went on to finish a fellowship in Pain Medicine at Mount Sinai Beth Israel, again taking the role of chief fellow. He has an interest in musculoskeletal health, sports medicine, interventional pain management (including peripheral joint injections, epidural injections, nerve blocks, and ablations), utilizing physical therapy and minimalizing pharmacologic treatment modalities. He uses a holistic, multimodal approach for the treatment of pain and sports injuries. He encourages general health and well-being for his patients, and is happy to discuss diet, exercise, smoking cessation, and address stress that can affect one’s health.
