About Me

I actively participate in the teaching of medical students, residents and fellows in Mount Sinai Beth Israel through regular attendance of educational conferences and morning rounds throughout the week. I have assigned lectures every year as part of the medical residents and cardiology fellows’ orientation courses and I teach part of the vascular training course for the cardiology fellows. I was honored for my teaching of the resident and fellows with Society for Teaching of Internal Medicine Award in 2000 and The Paul Schweitzer Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2002 and 2007. For many years I taught a medical course on cardiac examination to Albert Einstein students who rotated through Beth Israel Medical Center. I have interest in clinical research and I participate mainly in clinical reviews and case reports with students, medical residents and fellows.

I practice General Cardiology in an active faculty practice setting in offices in Greenpoint neighborhood of Brooklyn as well as Wall Street and Midtown of Manhattan. I strive to deliver high quality, evidence based, and effective care to my patients. I share my practice with 4 other cardiologists, 2 NPs and close to 20 staff members who all have the same goal of delivering optimal customer service and efficient high quality care to all our patients. I am very closely involved with the administration of this practice which hasseveral locations in New York and Brooklyn. I served on several committees over the years in the administration of Beth Israel, including the Ethics committee and most recently the IPA guidelines committee for continuum health partners in 2012-2013. I am board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases, Echocardiography and Nuclear Cardiology and I am the medical director for my practice echocardiography and vascular laboratories and the radiation safety officer of our nuclear laboratory.

I am very aware of my civic responsibilities and I am well known in the Polish community of Greenpoint. I have a leadership role in the Egyptian and Coptic communities throughout the tri-state area and I am a member of the Egyptian American Medical Society and a founding member of the Coptic American Medical Association of North America. Through the later I participated in several medical missions to Egypt and Ethiopia in 2010, 2011 and 2014. This association remains very active in missionary work and organizes several missions yearly to countries including Bolivia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Burundi, Kenya and South Africa. We provide care for complex cardiac, ophthalmic, orthopedic, renal and surgical cases for the poor who cannot afford treatment.
